We at WorkNomads are looking for a Senior Firmware Architect with extensive experience in IoT product development and a proven track record in architectural design. This role demands technical leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on expertise in embedded systems, firmware development, and wireless communication protocols. As a key member of our team, you will define the architecture for cutting-edge IoT solutions, mentor engineers, and ensure the delivery of scalable, reliable, and efficient firmware.

  • Architectural Leadership: Design and document the high-level architecture for firmware systems across our IoT product portfolio, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and integration efficiency.
        Firmware Development: Lead and contribute to the design, development, and optimization of firmware for IoT devices, ensuring robustness and efficiency.
        Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with hardware, software, and product teams to define system requirements, specifications, and integration strategies.
        Protocol Implementation: Lead the implementation and optimization of advanced wireless communication protocols, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa, and emerging technologies.
        Performance Validation: Oversee the development and execution of comprehensive test plans to validate system performance, functionality, and stability.
        Technical Mentorship: Guide and mentor firmware engineers, promoting best practices and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
        Innovation & Research: Stay at the forefront of IoT and firmware trends, assessing emerging technologies and their potential applications to our solutions.
        Documentation & Standards: Establish and maintain architectural and technical documentation, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and company standards.


The tools in your backpack:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
        8+ years of experience in firmware development for embedded systems, with at least 3 years in a senior or architectural role.
        Proficiency in embedded programming languages, including C and C++, with deep expertise in designing modular, scalable codebases.
        Extensive experience with microcontroller architectures such as STM32, ESP32, ARM Cortex, or similar platforms.  
        Strong expertise in wireless communication protocols, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LoRa, with knowledge of emerging standards.
        Deep understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS), multithreading, and low-level hardware-software interfacing.
        Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage technical projects from concept to delivery.
        Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills, with a strategic approach to technical challenges.
        Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
        Hands-on experience with IoT platforms such as AWS IoT, Azure IoT, or Google Cloud IoT.
        Expertise in IoT security, including encryption, authentication, and secure firmware updates.
        Proven track record in developing firmware for battery-powered devices with a focus on power optimization.
        Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
